Meet Your Therapist,
Neejla Fahimy, AMFT

A Compassionate Approach To Therapy

Nurturing Inner Peace & Authenticity Together

I am deeply committed to helping you reconnect with your authentic self and find inner peace in a life filled with meaning and purpose. In my therapy practice, I provide a safe and empathetic space for you to explore your identity, heal, and build resilience. My goal is to guide you toward embracing your self-worth and uncovering the value that already exists within you.

With a warm and compassionate approach, I support you in overcoming challenges, building deeper connections, and discovering a life that feels genuinely fulfilling. Together, we will embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, fostering resilience and well-being every step of the way.

Why I Became A Therapist

I became a therapist because I have personally faced the profound challenges of mental health from a young age, and my own therapeutic journey over the past 13 years has shaped me into the person and therapist I am today. As a Persian American with immigrant parents, I also experienced discrimination that compounded my mental health struggles. Mental illness runs in my family, and witnessing both my own experiences and those of my loved ones deeply impacted me.

These challenges fueled my passion for helping others. My mission is to provide individuals and families with the same compassionate understanding and support that made a difference in my own life. I specialize in working with minority groups, trauma, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, and I am dedicated to fostering resilience and well-being for everyone I work with.

My Approach

I take a holistic approach to therapy, focusing on the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and navigate your thoughts, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to process and explore emotions, and mindfulness-based practices to cultivate emotional regulation and distress tolerance. I also draw from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach coping skills for managing emotions more effectively.

I believe in the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit, and I pay close attention to how emotions manifest physically and spiritually. By considering these aspects, we can gain deeper insight into your overall well-being and develop a well-rounded toolkit for navigating challenges.

When working with couples, I use a blend of Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT), and The Gottman Method to foster connection and healing. Through EFCT, I create a safe, nurturing environment where partners can freely express their emotions. Together, we explore patterns of communication and attachment, working toward greater understanding, empathy, and emotional closeness.

With IBCT, I help couples accept and embrace differences, rather than trying to change one another. This approach focuses on increasing emotional acceptance while teaching skills for resolving conflict and deepening intimacy.

I also integrate Gottman theory, which emphasizes building trust, improving communication, and managing conflict effectively. Using research-backed techniques, I guide couples in creating positive interactions that strengthen their bond and help them develop a more fulfilling relationship.
